Considering a Career in Massage Therapy?
Massage today is practiced in many arenas and is generally broken down into three broad categories: Relaxation Massage – practiced from client’s living rooms to luxury resorts, Sports Massage – working with local softball teams to Olympic Athletes, and Clinical Practice – working with health practitioners in many fields to support the wellbeing of their clients.
Practitioners in each area have many modalities to choose from. To get an idea of what area might appeal to you, take some time and learn about the various styles of massage, and different places and ways that people practice the art.
If you choose to become a Licensed Massage Therapist after thoroughly investigating the profession, you should feel confident about the potential career opportunities in the field. A career in massage therapy has many benefits to offer: the freedom of working for yourself (if you choose to do so), the satisfaction of meaningful and enjoyable work, and the pride that comes from helping other people improve their health and wellbeing. Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing health care professions today, and gaining an education in massage therapy is a valuable investment in yourself and your future. Consider a massage therapy career carefully, and choose a starting point that makes sense for you.
