Swedish Relaxation
Swedish massage provides general relaxation and relief from everyday stress. The most widely recognized and commonly used type of massage. Swedish massage stimulates circulation and eases muscle tension with a variety of techniques, speeds and pressures. This technique can be used to focus on a particular area, or for a full-body relaxation session.
Craniosacral Therapy
This gentle yet powerful type of bodywork can ease pain and improve health by directly affecting the central nervous system. Using very light touch, restrictions in the craniosacral rhythm are released, stimulating the body’s healing mechanisms. This technique is safe and effective for almost any client.
Chinese Massage (Tui Na)
In Tui Na, the therapist uses soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization techniques and acupressure point treatment to enhance energy flow and increase client health and well being.
Japanese Massage (Shiatsu)
Shiatsu is a bodywork technique developed in Japan to help clients increase their energy and well being. Increasingly popular in the West, Shiatsu uses finger pressure on specific points as well as stretching and movement exercises to move energy through the body’s meridians.
Structural Bodywork
Structural Bodywork is based on the idea that a body balanced well in gravity functions more smoothly and moves more easily. This technique also works with tight fascia to bring all parts of the body into a more healthy relationship with each other.
Thai Massage
A flowing and rhythmic form, Thai Massage uses palm, foot, thumb and elbow pressure plus a wide variety of stretching techniques to encourage relaxation, stress reduction and health enhancement. You have the option of receiving the treatment on a massage table or a traditional massage mat on the floor.
Trigger Point Therapy
This powerful approach focuses on pain relief, performance enhancement and rehabilitation. Trigger points in muscles or fascia can cause pain and tension as well as decrease sports, recreational and occupational performance. The therapist will identify a client’s trigger points, track their pain referral patterns, and relieve them with safe, comfortable techniques.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage treatments support and nurture mothers-to-be as well as new mothers. Special techniques promote relaxation and comfort to enhance the well-being of mother and child. It is recommended after the first trimester.
Deep Tissue
Deep tissue massage focuses on the deeper tissues of the body, and is used to relieve chronic muscular and postural problems. Techniques are generally slow and specific, with a goal of breaking up restrictions in muscles, tendons and fascia to allow more freedom of movement and less pain. While some of these techniques include intense, localized pressure, deep tissue massage can also include subtle, gentle movements. This is the most commonly requested type of massage for individuals dealing with chronic pain or injury.
Sports Massage
Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind, from world-class professionals to weekend joggers. The therapist will use a variety of techniques to focus on areas of the body stressed from overuse, repetitive movements, and athletic injuries.
